The Moorlands Family

A family focused approach

In a recent Survey, one of our parents commented of Moorlands:

“It’s a family…”

At Moorlands, “family” is very important to us. We understand that a strong relationship between school and family is vital to nurture happy and confident children who thrive socially, in the classroom and in their co-curricular activities.

We try to make the transition between home and school as seamless as possible, offering flexibility and convenience for busy parents alongside a home from home environment for pupils.

Drop off at Moorlands is easy and stress free with ample onsite parking that is invaluable to those parents with babies or toddlers. We want pupils to arrive at Moorlands, relaxed and happy – and ready to have a wonderful day.

We offer flexible wraparound care. Pupils can arrive from 7.30am to enjoy a Moorlands breakfast and be picked up after tea at 6pm. Many of our pupils even ask to stay late so that they can take part in our large selection of after school clubs! Even better, from the term after children turn 5, all wrap-around care, school run clubs and breakfast and tea are included in the fees. During the holidays, pupils can sign up for Children’s Corner (early years to age 5) or United Education (age 5 upwards). Both camps are held in our beautiful grounds and offer days packed full of exciting activities.

At Moorlands, we know how important a good school lunch can be to a child’s day! Our varied and nutritious meals are prepared in-house and offer pupils a variety of options each day, taking into account any individual nutritional requirements. The most popular dishes? Our roast chicken dinner and renowned Moorlands flapjack of course!

And finally, our Buddy System is key to the family feel of Moorlands. Our older pupils love spending time doing activities with their Nursery “Buddies”, who, in turn, are delighted when the “Big Ones” turn up to play! This fosters a real sense of community and mutual responsibility throughout the school. In fact, to finish off that parent quote:

It’s a family…the children all look after each other across the year groups.”

Moorlands provides a unique environment that allows children to feel as comfortable and confident as they do at home. For our pupils, school is somewhere they can try new things and learn new skills, knowing they are supported fully – a nurturing home from home where they can grow, develop and shine.
